Former President Bill Clinton has a big admirer in Barbara Bush.
The former first lady told C-SPAN that she has a strong personal affection for the man who succeeded her husband, George H.W. Bush, despite being on opposite ends of the political spectrum.

"I love Bill Clinton," Barbara Bush said on the series "First Ladies: Influence & Image." "Maybe not his politics, but I love Bill Clinton."
Barbara Bush, 88, said that the two presidents have grown close over the years, notably during fundraising efforts for victims of the 2004 tsunami in South Asia, Hurricane Katrina, and the earthquake in Haiti.
Bush said that her husband has become a father figure to Clinton, who lost his biological father in a car accident three months before he was born.
"Bill's father wasn't around, and I think he thinks of George a little bit like the father he didn't have, and he's very loving to him," Bush told C-SPAN. "And I really appreciate that."
When Clinton visits the Bushes in Kennebunkport, Maine, they don't talk politics, Mrs. Bush said.
Bush also discussed how she hopes her son, Jeb, doesn't run for president.
"I hope he won't because I think he'll get all my enemies, all his brother's ... and there are other families," Bush said. "I refuse to accept that this great country isn't raising other wonderful people."
Jeb Bush responded in jest on Twitter.

Bush spent time in a hospital for pneumonia.
