By    |   Tuesday, 03 December 2013 10:34 AM EST

Longtime television anchor Barbara Walters will host her special "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year" on Dec. 18 and will feature fellow ABC anchor Robin Roberts, among others.

Earlier this year, Walters announced her retirement from television after 37 years, so this will be her last broadcast of the annual program.

Roberts survived a battle with breast cancer that began five years ago. This year she announced that she was diagnosed with MDS, or myelodysplastic syndrome, but managed to return to "Good Morning America" to anchor in September.

The 90-minute show will air on ABC at 9:30 p.m. Eastern on Dec. 18, according to ABC. Others on the list include: Oscar winner and "Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence, National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden, singer Miley Cyrus, couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, the stars from the A&E reality show "Duck Dynasty," and Prince George, the toddler son of Duchess Kate and Prince William.

Walters has done her "10 Most Fascinating People" special for two decades and she celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. She is also the executive producer and a co-host of "The View," which began airing in 1997 and now is a fixture on ABC's daytime television.

Walters will remain executive producer of "The View" after she retires.

"I am very happy with my decision and look forward to a wonderful and special year ahead both on 'The View' and with ABC News," Walters said of her departure in front of the camera in May. "I created 'The View' and am delighted it will last beyond my leaving it."

ABC News noted that Walters started her journalism career as a host on NBC's "Today" show in 1961. She moved to ABC in 1976 to become the first female anchor of an evening news program. She played a major role on the news magazine "20/20" in 1979.

"There's only one Barbara Walters," ABC News President Ben Sherwood said about Walters in May. "And we look forward to making her final year on television as remarkable, path-breaking and news-making as Barbara herself."
