Barry Jenner, best known for his role on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at age 75.
Jenner, who played Starfleet Admiral William Ross on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" for 12 episodes from 1997-99, died from acute myeloid leukemia, according to his wife, actress Suzanne Hunt, Variety reported.
Jenner was also known for his Lieutenant Murtaugh character in the ABC sitcom "Family Matters." In the hit CBS series "Dallas," Jenner portrayed the Ewing family's doctor and love interest for Sue Ellen for 25 episodes from Season 7 to Season 9, reported Entertainment Weekly.
He also appeared in such television series as "Somerset," "Knots Landing," "Another World," "Hart to Hart," "Simon & Simon," "St. Elsewhere," and "JAG."
The official Star Trek fan website said that Barry also provided the voice of Admiral Ross on the video game "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – Dominion Wars," and was a popular on the Star Trek convention circuit.
The Hollywood Reporter stated that Jenner also served as a Los Angeles Police Department reserve officer for 21 years and his family suggested that contributions be made in his name to the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation.
Former "Family Matters" star Jaleel While and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" star Armin Shimerman shared their condolences on Twitter with other fans.
