BatDad, Batman Mask-Wearing Dad, Goes Viral With Vine Videos

BatDad is becoming a viral hit, but there are good odds the six-second videos he's is sharing on Vine social media will get him put in the dog house by his sidekick wife. But a lot of other people are laughing hysterically.

Blake Wilson was toy shopping with his kids when he decided to buy a black Batman mask, he told BuzzFeed in an email. Little did he know the magic that would happen when he slipped it on to become BatDad.

Now, he’s all over social media, cautioning children against swallowing gum and handing out a Potty Pop when his son goes poop in the potty.

Vine is a Twitter app that limits videos to six seconds, pushing the creative edge. Wilson told BuzzFeed that he drove his family “kinda nuts” when he first got Vine trying to be funny.

“I decided to stop doing that and just have fun with them by doing this BatDad stuff. My wife thinks its hilarious and my kids sometimes do (depending on their moods lol),” Wilson wrote.

The Atlanta dad has four kids and they, indeed, seem amused at their dad’s antics in the Batman mask. But one would be inclined to argue with his assessment of his wife Jen’s reaction. Several posted Vines find her jumping and snapping, “Blake!” when Wilson pops up in his mask.

Comments on a Gawker article seem to agree. One wrote, “This almost justifies that stupid voice Christian Bale did. Though his wife is going to kill him one of these days.” Another agreed, “I see a divorce in the future.”

On BuzzFeed, someone wrote, “Jen’s the real hero.”

While more than a few negative comments drifted to Gawker about whether or not Wilson was funny, some said he was “one of the best Viners out there.”

Wilson’s six-second glimpses of family life through batmask eyes have gathered thousands of views.

“HHHAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA I SERIOUSLY CANT STOP LAUGHING!!! thank you so much batdad! you have inspired me! when I have children i shall be dadpool in honor of you!” said one commenter on BuzzFeed.
