Bear Cub: Oregon Drug Store Gets an Adorable Visitor (Video)

By    |   Wednesday, 22 October 2014 05:20 PM EDT

A bear cub found its way into an Ashland, Oregon, drug store, capturing the attention of customers, who snapped photos on videos of the animal.

The cub was thought to be about a month old and was first spotted at a nearby hotel before entering the Rite Aid store, KGW-TV reported. Police officers came to the drug store and placed the cub in the care of Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Story continues below video.

The cub likely will go to a rehab center or zoo and won’t be released into the wild because of its contact with humans, the station reported.

Twitter users were captivated by images of the wee bear that spread on social media.

The Oregon cub is the latest bear to steal the Internet spotlight.

British visual ecologist John Kitchin recently posted a YouTube video after a female grizzly snatched his GoPro camera and began chewing on it.

In May, images of a bear lounging in a hammock in a Florida neighborhood captured the Internet.

Another bear cub captured hearts when it was found alone and whimpering in Oregon in May.

Also in May, a video of a bear pulling her cub to safety off a busy highway drew attention.

But not all recent bear news has been adorable.

Earlier this month, a man was attacked by a bear and then was shot by a friend who was shooting at the bear. He survived both.

Also, a California man was eaten by a black bear after he is believed to have died of a heart attack near his remote home.
