Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman's wife, Beth, died Wednesday after a long battle against cancer. She was 51.

Beth had been in a medically induced coma since Wednesday.

She died at a Honolulu hospital, TMZ reported. Duane confirmed the news on Twitter.

"It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side," he posted.

Beth revealed in 2017 that she had  stage 2 throat cancer, but after undergoing surgery, was declared cancer free that December. Last November she was shocked to discover the cancer had returned.

She began aggressive chemotherapy but last month said she had discontinued the treatment. Earlier this month she was hospitalized for breathing issues related to the cancer and placed in a medically-induced coma.

Beth starred with Duane in the iconic "Dog the Bounty Hunter" series for several years. Their story is one of love and perseverance. The two met in 1988, when Beth was 19 and in trouble with the law, facing jail time for unpaid parking tickets, Fox News reported. She met Duane, who was 35 at the time, when she went down to his office to file paperwork to avoid being arrested.

There was an instant attraction but the timing was not right. Duane was married and Beth was continuously running into problems with the law. Duane would go on to get divorced and remarried while Beth married his close friend. The two stayed in touch, even after Duane's mother died and he spiraled into drug addiction. Having separated from his wife, Duane eventually moved to Colorado and fate seemed to bring him to Beth.

"One day, we were both standing in the alley behind the houses on bail bonds row. It was like a scene from a movie," Duane wrote in his memoirs, according to Fox News. "I looked at her and she at me. By the time Beth got to the back of the alley I was already by her side. I grabbed her and put the most passionate kiss on her."

Beth became a licensed bail bondsman in Colorado at age 29. She helped Duane launch an improbable TV career that made both of them international stars.

The couple married in 2006 and their children are Cecily Chapman, Bonnie Chapman, Garry Chapman and Dominic Davis.
