Beyonce is reportedly director Jon Favreau’s top choice to voice Nala in the upcoming "Lion King" live-action remake.
Variety reported the Grammy-winning singer is wanted for the role, but said she has not yet made a decision about the film. She is currently pregnant with twins and has already dropped out of a headlining spot at Coachella that would take place close to her due date.
Sources told Variety the studio is willing to do what it takes to accommodate her schedule.
Donald Glover has been cast as the voice of Simba and James Earl Jones will again voice Mufasa, Simba’s father.
Mashable really wants the singer to take on the role, giving a list of seven reasons why it would be amazing, including the music she would produce in the role, the dominance she would bring to Nala, and the red carpet photos with her children, among other reasons.
"Casting Beyoncé would make Nala the real lion King, because no one can outrank Beyoncé in a monarchy or any other form of government," Mashable wrote.
Favreau also directed the live-action reboot of “The Jungle Book,” which has earned $965 million worldwide to date, Fortune reported.
Beyonce also voiced Queen Tara in 2013’s “Epic.”
Beyonce has an estimated net worth of $290 million, Fortune reported. She was the first woman artist to have 12 songs on the Billboard Top 100 and also owns her own entertainment and management company as well as an activewear brand.
Twitter was just about as excited as Mashable at the thought of Beyonce in the role.
