“The Big Bang Theory” offered its tribute to Leonard Nimoy on Thursday, using the producer’s vanity card at the end of the show to honor the "Star Trek" actor who died Feb. 27.
“The impact you had on our show and on our lives is everlasting,” appeared beneath a black-and-white photo of Nimoy.
Although Nimoy didn’t ever appear on “The Big Bang Theory,” he did lend his voice for an episode in which Sheldon (played by Jim Parsons) found himself speaking to the Spock figurine that sat on his desk.
“Remember you, like me, also have a human half,” Nimoy intoned in his trademark husky voice.
“I’m not going to dignify that with a response,” Sheldon answered.
Nimoy told The Hollywood Reporter in 2012 when the show aired that he had fun playing that part.
“I thoroughly enjoyed myself," he said. "[They're] a talented company and a smart show; they made me welcome."
"For years, we thought it would be fantastic to have Leonard Nimoy appear on the show and we think we’ve found a really different and fun way to make that happen," executive producer Steve Molaro told THR at the time. "As thrilled as we are he's doing it, we're even more thrilled just to get our pictures taken with him.”
While Nimoy may not have been on the show but that one time, he was frequently referenced.
The Hollywood Reporter pointed out that Sheldon once donned a Spock costume, playing out his much-discussed obsession with the Vulcan, and the show’s male cast can all speak Spock’s dying words.
