Bill Clinton: Grandfather Life Is 'Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread'

Bill Clinton sure is enjoying being a grandfather, telling talk show host Seth Meyers this week that his granddaughter Charlotte Mezvinsky is "the greatest thing since sliced bread."

The former president gushed over the newest addition to the Clinton clan on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" Wednesday. Baby Charlotte was born to Chelsea Clinton and husband Marc Mezinsky on Sept. 26, according to Us Weekly.

"It's really wonderful," Clinton told Meyers about becoming a grandfather. "I love it. Like every other grandparent, I think my granddaughter's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's really fun."

"Hillary [Clinton] and I are able to see her a lot. Chelsea and Marc and Charlotte live in New York, so we're here all the time. So far, my daughter has not had to discipline her [daughter's] overly exuberant grandparents too much," Clinton continued.

Clinton's "Late Night" appearance did not mark the first time he's gushed over his granddaughter. Last year on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," he talked about how he believed the baby brought his family closer, according to E! News.

"Hillary and I only have one child and she's quite wonderful, but it's been a long time since she's been that age," he explained. "I told her the biggest hoot for me is watching them wake up to the world . . . She never cries. She just soaks things up and if my mind worked like that, I'd be so happy."

George W. Bush warned Clinton in September when the two talked at a Presidential Leadership Scholars Program event that his granddaughter would have him completely wrapped around her finger, according to Politico.

"Get ready also to be like the lowest person in the pecking order in your family," Bush said to Clinton at the time. "Be prepared to fall completely in love again. You're not going to believe it. You're just not going to believe the joy and the fun. And I'm looking forward to talking to you after that child is born. And we all wish the very best for Chelsea . . . It's going to be an awesome period for you."
