Bill Nye "The Science Guy" will debate creation vs. evolution in February with the founder of the Creation Museum in Kentucky.
Ken Ham, the founder of the Petersburg-based museum, announced the debate Thursday for Feb. 4
on the museum's website with $25 tickets scheduled to go on sale Monday.

"It's quite rare these days for such a well-known evolutionist to publicly debate a creationist — so we do expect a lot of media interest," Ham wrote on the
museum's Facebook page.
Nye, who hosted a popular kids television show in the 1990s, has become outspoken in his support for science-based education. In 2012, he said parents who taught creationism were doing a disservice to their kids.
"When you have a portion of the population that doesn't believe in (evolution), it holds everybody back, really,"
Nye said in a 2012 YouTube video produced by the media group Big Think. "Evolution is the fundamental idea in all of life science, in all of biology."
The video has been viewed nearly 6 million times.
Ham, a Christian leader who believes the Bible's account of God creating the Earth, is looking forward to the conversation.
"I really trust that
Bill Nye will come through with this," Ham told Wave 3 News in Kentucky. "I believe he will. He's a well-known, highly respected personality. I think this is going to bring the creation-evolution issue to the public in a way that hasn't been done in a long time."
The Creation Museum "brings the pages of the Bible to life," according to its website, and has exhibits such as Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and humans and dinosaurs living at the same time.
