Bill Nye "The Science Guy" says climate change caused Louisiana's recent disastrous flooding.

"This is a result of climate change," Nye told CNN on Tuesday, referring to floods that killed 13 people and damaged more than 60,000 homes. "It's only going to get worse."

The floods were the result of a series of smaller storms, which drew less national attention than large hurricanes typically do. But Nye said warming oceans will make these smaller storms and catastrophic flooding more common.

"What will probably happen is people will move," Nye told CNN.

Nye also took a shot at the network, in what appeared to be a reference to meteorologist Chad Myers, who has a record of making comments casting doubt on climate change, The Huffington Post reported. Myers has since changed his stance.

"Here at CNN you have essentially a climate change denier meteorologist and knock yourselves out," Nye said. "But this is a big problem and it’s not going to go away."

Nye's Tuesday appearance on CNN follows comments he made to CBS News on Monday, when he blamed what he calls climate change deniers for keeping the issue out of this year's presidential debates.

"The deniers have been very successful — surprisingly successful — because they are almost exclusively funded by the fossil fuel industry. So this whole anti-science movement has been set up to preserve an economy that is going away," Nye told CBS News.

Nye's comments sparked a lot of debate on Twitter.
