Blake Shelton has sued In Touch magazine over a Sept. 28 cover story that suggested that the country music superstar checked into rehab after separating from his wife and fellow country singer Miranda Lambert.

The $2 million lawsuit, filed recently in Los Angeles County Superior Court, insists that the award-winning singer did not enter rehab after splitting with Lambert and has no plans to seek treatment, TMZ reported.

According to The Oklahoman, In Touch's story claimed that Shelton began drinking heavily and that's what eventually led to the breakup of his marriage. The magazine also printed a previous story accusing Shelton of cheating on Lambert.

According to the website The Boot, Shelton had demanded a retraction but has received no response from In Touch, which proclaimed on the cover that the singer had hit "rock bottom."

"To be clear: Mr. Shelton has not hit rock bottom," the lawsuit states, according to The Boot.

Since the country music power couple announced their split over the summer, Shelton has kept busy with season nine of NBC's reality singing show "The Voice" and is also planning to perform at the 2015 CMA Awards.

In fact, Us Weekly reported Monday that Shelton and Lambert are both among the scheduled performers at the CMA Awards, which will mark the first time they will appear in public together since they announced their divorce.

"This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately," the couple said in a joint statement back in July, according to E! Online. "We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."

The awards show will be broadcast from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 4.
