Actress Blythe Danner reportedly wasn’t pleased that her daughter Gwyneth Paltrow decided to end her marriage to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin last week.
"[She's] really upset. She loves Chris," an insider told Us Weekly. "She begged Gwyneth not to end it, that he's a good man. But Gwyneth had to do what she felt was best . . . They really tried to make it work. You could tell something was wrong, though, over the last few months. You could see a sadness in each of their eyes."

Danner, the 71-year-old "Meet the Parents" actress, was married to husband Bruce for 33 years up until his death in 2002. Paltrow, 41, opened up about marriage and
her parents' relationship last summer in an interview with Glamour U.K.
"I asked my dad once, 'How did you and Mom stay married for 33 years?' And he said, 'Well, we never wanted to get divorced at the same time,'" she said. "I think that's what happens . . . When two people throw in the towel at the same time, then you break up, but if one person's saying, 'Come on, we can do this,' you carry on."
Paltrow and Martin announced they were "consciously uncoupling" last week on Paltrow's Goop website.
"It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate," the statement read. "We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner."
The two married in 2003 and have two children together — Apple, 8, and Moses, 7.
