Bo Derek is telling all about her love life, which has had its share of controversy over the years.
The blonde bombshell, known for her work on "10," "Fantasies," and "Tommy Boy," raised eyebrows when she married John Derek, an actor, director, and producer who was 30 years her senior. Questions now surround her current relationship with John Corbett, who she has been together with for 18 years. Why haven't they married? Why didn't they have kids?
Bo is now setting the record straight about Corbett and opening up about her marriage to Derek, who was 49 when she married him at age 19.
"I don't know about you but when I was 17, I knew everything," she said in an interview with Variety published Friday. "I was so grown up and so adult. Now, when I look back at the photos of me, I was young — 17 is young."
Bo remained married to Derek for over two decades, until he died in 1998 at age 71. Looking back, Bo said the age gap was something that left her feeling conflicted.
"There was no #MeToo-ing with John," she said. "But, yeah, I'm very conflicted about (the age gap) when I look back. ... It felt right at the time. I was so in love with him and we ended up together for 25 years. I'm just so grateful he was a good person."
Five years after his death, Bo started dating Corbett. They have been going strong ever since and despite pressure from the outside world to get married, they are content with where they are.
"I think when you're beginning a young family and you're going to have children and set up this new family tree branch, it's obviously a wonderful commitment and it's meaningful," Derek told Fox News recently. "But for us in our lives, it hasn't been yet."
Bo also shared the recipe for their successful relationship.
"He makes me laugh all the time," she said. "He's full of life, full of joy. I became attracted to him and I still am. We take things day by day and I think we are still there."
