A boa constrictor nearly six feet long was found in the toilet of a downtown San Diego office building on Tuesday.
Stephanie Lasca, co-founder of Vertical PR + Marketing, discovered the snake in the office bathroom when she noticed the water in the toilet was high and
grabbed a plunger, U-T San Diego reported.
"As soon I saw the flicker of its tongue, I definitely knew that it was, in fact, a large snake heading straight toward me," Lacsa said, according to U-T.
She immediately ran from the bathroom and called the Department of Animal Services. Officials found the Colombian rainbow boa coiled behind the toilet seat.
The building’s manager, Jason Zana, said he identified the snake’s owner as a tenant in one of the building’s residential units, U-T said. He sent an email to the building’s occupants: "After following the trail of the snake and doing my best Ace Ventura impression, it looks like the snake was just a lost pet of one of our tenants. So, we can all relax now that we know our sewer systems are not infested with snakes!"
Lacsa said she taped the bathroom shut after
discovering the snake, Fox 5 San Diego reported. She and co-founder Holly Wells said they were used to plumbing problems in the building, which was built in 1886, but never expected to see a snake in the toilet.
Twitter users were creeped out by the story.
