"The Price is Right" is celebrating beloved former host Bob Barker's 90th birthday this week along with the show's Pet Adoption Week.
Barker hosted the show for 35 years before retiring; he was replaced by Drew Carey, who has continued Barker's tradition of reminding viewers to "Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered."

Barker is still immensely popular, as evidenced by the
“Price Is Right” crowd going nuts at his appearance in an exclusive TV Guide preview.
Barker, who is one of PETA’s featured vegetarians on their celebrity stars stamps released in November, will celebrate his birthday on air Thursday with “The Price is Right.”
The popular former host’s commitment to animals is well known. Just two years ago, when “The Price Is Right” had its 40th anniversary,
Barker did an interview with Entertainment Weekly about not being included in that show.
He tossed out the idea it was because he’s been critical that the show is giving away prizes from companies that he said don’t treat animals well, like Sea World and the Calgary Stampede, EW said. When he was on the show, Barker asked that they not give away fur and leather coats, and the show agreed.
Over the years, Barker has given millions to animal-rights causes, EW said.
Obviously, whatever caused the aging star to be left out of the show’s 40th anniversary event is yesterday’s news. This week, Barker’s genial smile and gentlemanly demeanor are front and center.
