Former MLB pitcher Brad Halsey, 33, has died, according to media reports.
Details of Halsey's death haven’t been made public, but an anonymous source
told USA Today that Halsey died in a recreational climbing accident near his New Braunfels, Texas, home on Friday.
His death is under investigation by the Comal County Sheriff's Office.
Halsey’s agent, O’Connell Sports, tweeted about the athlete’s death on Wednesday.
Halsey attended the University of Texas and pitched one season each with the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Oakland Athletics.
Halsey surrendered Barry Bonds' 714th career home run in 2006 and started for the Yankees against the Red Sox in the 2004 game in which Derek Jeter famously dove into the stands for a foul ball.
Twitter users remembered Halsey.
