Brian Williams' "NBC Nightly News" broadcast got a little personal this week when the veteran news anchor reported on his daughter Allison Williams' new gig as Peter Pan.
"Our own network, NBC, has set the casting for the two lead parts of its live theatrical telecast of 'Peter Pan' on the evening of December 4," he said during Wednesday's broadcast. "Just today NBC announced Allison Williams will play the role of Peter Pan."
Williams' 26-year-old daughter has signed on to join Christopher Walken, who was recently announced in the role of Captain Hook, in NBC's follow-up to last year's "Sound of Music Live."

"We couldn't be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan," NBC executive Robert Greenblatt said in a statement this week. "She's a lovely rising star on the award-winning show 'Girls' — where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent — and we think she will bring the perfect blend of 'boyish' vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken's powerful Captain Hook."
Allison Williams herself commemorated the occasion with an Instagram post.
"It's such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I'm very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team," she said in a statement. "And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting, and singing?"
Brian Williams ended his report with the same childhood photo of his daughter.
"Family members confirm she's been rehearsing for this role since the age of 3, and they look forward to seeing her fly."
