Bristol Palin has spoken out about her family's drunken brawl at a September house party in Alaska, just days after
TMZ leaked an audio recording of her in hysterics immediately following the fight.
"Our friend got knocked out from a cheap shot from behind," she explained in a
blog post on Patheos.
"When Willow saw all this happening she looked at the guy’s mom and said 'get ahold of your son.' But apparently the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree, because his mom pushed Willow. A grown woman pushed my little sister."
That's when Bristol got out of the car, apparently leaving her 5-year-old in the family's white limousine while she investigated.
"After I got out of the car, I didn’t get far. I never even got to talk to his mom, because a guy in his late thirties or early forties got in my face. He was towering over me — probably at 6-foot-something and over 200 pounds. He puffed his chest out and started yelling."
In both the leaked audio recording and Bristol's follow-up blog post, she claims that this man — likely homeowner Korey Klingenmeyer, according to the police report — pushed her, hurled profanities, and told her to leave.
That's when she decided to fight back, she wrote.
"He had his hands on me, pushing me down. That’s when I swung and hit his face. Some would say I should’ve never retaliated in defense against him, but certainly he should never have pushed a girl. It didn't phase him. He pushed me down to the ground and kept me there."
Bristol Palin then goes on to explain that the liberal media took glee in her misfortune because she is a conservative woman.
This is true in at least one instance, as CNN's Carol Costello demonstrated on air.
"This is quite possibly the best minute and a half of audio we've ever come across. Well, come across in a long time anyway," she said on-air introducing the post-fight audio clip.
Costello was criticized for taking pleasure in the clip, and was soon forced to apologize.
"Over the past few days I have been roundly criticized for joking about a brawl involving the Palin family. In retrospect, I deserve such criticism and would like to apologize," Costello
said in a statement to Politico.
