Britney Spears' Tweaked Ankle Forces Her to Cancel Weekend Las Vegas Shows

By    |   Friday, 01 May 2015 10:06 AM EDT

Britney Spears was forced to reschedule some weekend Las Vegas residency dates after injuring her ankle onstage during Wednesday's show.

Performing her "Piece of Me" arena show at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, the 33-year-old pop star tweaked her ankle dancing to her song "Crazy," The Associated Press reported.

"Britney injured her ankle during her performance Wednesday evening and her doctor has advised her not to perform Friday and Saturday evening so that she may heal," a statement from the singer and the venue said. "Britney Spears, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, and Live Nation apologize for any inconvenience this causes ticket holders."

Spears commented on the injury and postponing of her shows on Twitter.

People magazine reported in March that Spears had returned to her residency concerts at Planet Hollywood, which initially began in 2014, after a brief break. She's currently booked through September.

Spears' Las Vegas shows have collected more than $50 million in ticket sales, according to People.

Fans showed their support for Spears on social media.
