Buzz Aldrin spent just $33.31 during his 1969 trip to the moon and back, according to documents he posted on Twitter this week as a fascinating look back at the historic event.
The expense sheet was part of the paperwork the astronauts were asked to fill out upon their return to Earth,
according to CNN. The $33.31 appeared to mostly be spent on Aldrin's private vehicle use while on the ground.
In one Twitter post, Aldrin shared his travel voucher for the moon, with NASA obviously paying for the ride.
Aldrin also shared the customs form that the astronauts were asked to fill out upon their return.
CNN noted that there was concern that the astronauts could bring back diseases to Earth, and they were kept in quarantine for three weeks after their return. He joked about the concern in several Twitter posts last week, suggesting it could make a horror movie plot.
Aldrin has continued to promote space exploration since his retirement from NASA. Writing books and speaking in public occupy much of his time, and he's also become an outspoken advocate of a manned mission to Mars,
