Buzz Williams jumped on a public-address microphone to tell Virginia Tech students to "stop cussin'" during the Hokies' upset victory over No. 5-ranked Duke on Monday night, according to Yahoo Sports.

In the roller coaster basketball game, Virginia Tech overcame a 15-point deficit to catch up with Duke in the second half, Yahoo Sports noted. With the Blue Devils still leading the Hokies 60-53 with 3:03 left in the game, Duke star player Grayson Allen drew a foul against Virginia Tech's Justin Robinson, resulting in free throws, the website noted.

The student section at Virginia Tech's Cassell Coliseum exploded in the profanity chant "bull****."

That is when Williams, Virginia Tech's head coach, left his bench and asked for the PA microphone.

"Guys, quit cussing," the coach said, according to SB Nation. "Quit cussing. Don't throw anything on the floor regardless of what’s happening."

After cheers from fans after Williams' plea, the student section stopped cursing and Virginia Tech went on to a nail-biting win in one of the bigger upsets in college basketball this season.

"How many times has that happened in the history of basketball? A head coach telling his own student section to take a chill pill?" wrote CBS Sports' Kyle Boone. "I'll set the over/under at 1 and place my bet on the under. A totally unique, quirky and hilarious response -- but one to which his team apparently responded well."

Williams' action won over some fans on social media.
