Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, broke President Barack Obama's world record on Monday by gaining 1 million Twitter followers in just four hours.

According to Guinness World Records, the president's new @POTUS account reached a million followers in approximately five hours just last month, but Jenner bested that time by a full hour.

Jenner celebrated the feat by issuing her third tweet, and the president posted a note of support using his @BarackObama account.

Jenner's first tweet included the world's first photo of the former Olympic athlete as Caitlyn, the name chosen for Bruce's new female identity. The picture, taken by famous photographer Annie Leibovitz, was rendered for the July cover of Vanity Fair magazine.

The magazine hits newsstands June 9, and comes roughly a month after the broadcast of Jenner's high-profile interview with Diane Sawyer of ABC News. During that interview, Jenner revealed that he was transgender, but still referred to himself using male pronouns and his birth name. He also said that he was a Republican, and would, given the chance, love to work with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker John Boehner on advocating for transgender people in the political sphere.

Following the Vanity Fair cover spread, Jenner will premiere a new reality TV series about the transition from male to female on the E! Network on July 26. The TV network has previously featured Jenner as the family patriarch on "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

Politico reported that before Jenner and before Obama, actor Robert Downey Jr. held the world record for gaining 1 million Twitter followers in 23 hours and 22 minutes, set in April 2014.
