A former porn star has her eyes set on California Gov. Gavin Newsom's job.

Mary Carey revealed this week that she would be running for California governor as Newsom, a Democrat, faces the threat of a recall election. Carey also ran for the position during the recall election of Gray Davis. She came in 10th from a field of 135 candidates.

"Last time, I was young, dumb, and full of fun," Carey said in an interview this week with ABC7 News. "And this time I'm more experienced, and I am not going to take this position laying down. I am ready to be on top."

Carey has already set up a website for her campaign, selling T-shirts, and tote bags.

"I'm getting ready to take another shot at the California Gubernatorial Seat!! Political Strategy is in the works," she announced on her website "Any and all support to fight the big political parties will help save our state!"

Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner is also thinking about making a run, but GOP campaigner Rob Stutzman, a longtime adviser to Arnold Schwarzenegger, who replaced Davis, said to The Los Angeles Times that Jenner's odds were not fantastic.

"Arnold was the most famous person in the world aside from the pope. She’s famous but not that famous. And Arnold already had some credibility in the public-policy space—he had sponsored a statewide ballot measure, had campaigned for candidates, been involved with the presidential physical fitness council," he explained.

Schwarzenegger, meanwhile, has warned Newsom not to ignore the recall effort, which shares similarities to Davis' case.

"It's pretty much the same atmosphere today as it was then. There was dissatisfaction, to the highest level," Schwarzenegger said, according to Politico

"People are working very hard. People are making unbelievable sacrifices every day. It's very tough to raise kids and to have a family, and to go through this challenge, working to make ends meet. And you feel like, ‘Wait a minute, but Sacramento doesn't really do everything for us that they promised they’ll do. We are working hard — but they're not. They're failing us every day.’ That’s what I see as the similarities from 2003. It’s the same vibe,” he continued.

"And it’s the same with the momentum. Something that sets it off to a higher level, kind of the straw that breaks the camel’s back ... like an explosion."

The Republican former governor added, "In Newsom’s case, it was the French Laundry thing. With us, it was the power outages in 2003."
