Carlos Danger Weiners, a recently launched hot dog brand named after the sexting alter-ego of New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Wiener, may find their way into a Walmart near you.

The all-beef "extra-large" Carlos Danger Weiners, which "rise to any occasion," according to the hot dog's website, are the brainchild of marketing executive Randall Richards.

"There’s a lot of excitement about it and we think they’re going to fly off the shelves," says Richards. "I mean how many times do you introduce a new product that has this much press going for it?"

The hot dog's namesake presently has an 80 percent unfavorable rating among New Yorkers and is running in fourth place with just 10 percent of the vote. according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released last Tuesday.

The Carlos Danger Weiners' website was launched on Friday and Richards told Salon.com that as of Monday morning he had already received 5,000 pre-orders for the quarter-pound beef hotdog – which is twice the weight of a regularly sized frank.

Customers can purchase a one pound package, labeled "The Big One." for $4, a $19.95 20 pound package that in addition to the 20 hot dogs includes a "reusable party cooler," or "The Super Tailgater Pack" for $80, which in addition to 40 hot dogs includes a "large reusable cooler, reusable ice packs, 12 Carlos Danger self-adhesive mustaches, [and] 12 Carlos Danger cozies."

Major food retailers such as Wal-Mart and Publix are also considering distributing the new hot dogs, according to Richards.

Richards said he believes the brand will be around for the long run.

"I just felt instinctively that it would work," Richards told Salon.com. "We think eventually people will probably forget how they came to like it in the first place, and it just becomes a permanent brand."

Richards said plans to promote the product include appearances on several talk showson which he will be accompanied by "Weiner Girls" who will provide assistance for live studio cookouts.
