Carrie Olson, an Iowa woman missing for nearly four months, was found dead in Minnesota over the weekend and now police are trying to determine what exactly happened to the 29-year-old.
A property owner stumbled upon Olson's body Saturday some 300 miles from her hometown in a wooded area
near Hastings, Minn., KMSP.com reported. She was last seen Dec. 28 at a gas station in Rock Island, Ill.
"We've got to determine if there was a murder, if she overdosed, accidental death," Tim Leslie, chief deputy for the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, told KMSP.com. "Those are the things we are trying to figure out right now."

It's not yet clear how long Olson's body was in the wooded area in Minnesota.
"What we're now doing is working to determine . . . how long the body was there based on the weather and those kinds of situations, and that’s open for determination by the scientific community," Leslie said. "We may never know exactly when, how long she’s been there, so we're working with the medical examiner’s office to figure that out."
The man who was last seen with Olson was also seen driving her car a few days after her disappearance. KMSP.com reported that he has a connection to the Hastings, Minn., area where the body was discovered and was spotted there around New Year's. Police have declined to offer any details about him.
