Carrie Underwood has opened up in a radio interview about injuries from an accident at her home last year that left the country music star with stitches in her face and an injured twist that kept her out of the spotlight for several months, The Tennessean reported.
Underwood, who appeared on the "Bobby Bones Show" in Nashville on Thursday, said the accident last November left her uncertain about what the scars would heal like, the newspaper said.
"I went to catch myself and I just missed a step," Underwood, 35, said on the radio show about her fall while taking her dogs out at her suburban Nashville home, per The Tennessean. "(I) didn't know what it was going to heal like. I was at a point where I didn't know how things were going to end up. I didn't know what was going to go on."
Underwood, who made a return to the public spotlight Sunday by debuting a song off her new album at the Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, told Bones that she was "very fortunate" in the healing process, per The Tennessean.
Underwood, received more than 40 stitches in her face and sustained a broken wrist from the fall with one source telling People magazine that the former "American Idol" champion was concerned about the reaction she would receive Sunday.
She sang "Cry Pretty" from her album, which is scheduled to be released in September, per The Tennessean.
"She ended up skipping the red carpet because she didn't want to be bombarded with questions about the accident," one source told People. "It's the most shaken anyone has ever seen her … this whole ordeal. She was terrified of people seeing the scars. Her hair and makeup team must've been under so much pressure."
ABC News wrote that Underwood received an standing ovation after her performance on Sunday.
Underwood told Bones that she does not think the questions will ever stop about the fall.
"I don’t know if I'll ever be done talking about it, because it was an event in my life," Underwood said on the show, according to The Tennessean. "And, I mean, I'm OK talking about it."
