Casey Kasem Skit Cut by 'SNL' Reprised on 'Jimmy Kimmel'

By    |   Thursday, 11 September 2014 10:00 AM EDT

Casey Kasem's remains have still not been laid to rest months after his June 15 death at the age of 82, so it's understandable that a recent Saturday Night Live skit written by cast members Bill Hader and John Mulaney had to be cut.

The Wrap reported that Hader, known for his hilarious characters like club-scenester Stefon, ran through the Kasem skit Tuesday night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" ā€“ where the crowd roared with laughter.

Hader explained that the skit was written for "SNL" alum Dana Carvey, who was guest-hosting the show back in July. Carvey has impersonated Kasem to great effect in the past, and was to play him once more. Hader was assigned to play a fictitious son of Kasem, named "Jasey Kasem."

The skit describes the elder Kasem having a conversation with his estranged son, Jasey, in which he expresses his disappointment with the son's alleged shortcomings.

The estrangement aspect might have been a little too close to Kasem's real-life relationship with his children, however, who continue their dispute with Kasem's widow to this day.

Kasem's widow, second-wife Jean Kasem, is attempting to have Kasem's body moved from a Montreal funeral home to Norway. She maintains that the children, who have disputed the sufficiency of the care she was providing Kasem during his Lewy body dementia, are hungry to get their hands on Kasem's money and estate.
