Casey Kasem Wife Claims Legendary DJ Is Near Death

Radio personality Casey Kasem, widely known as the host of “American Top 40,” reportedly has advanced Parkinson’s Disease and just a few months to live according to a representative for Casey’s wife, TMZ reported.

The information was revealed Friday during a hearing involving Hilda Loza, a former caregiver, who sued the Kasems in small claims court. Jean Kasem sent a representative to appear at the hearing. The woman, the wife of Jean’s lawyer, asked for a continuance for several months to allow “the situation to resolve or end, unfortunately.”

In legal papers submitted to the court, Jean said, "My husband is terminally ill and unable to leave home."

Earlier this month, Kasem's three oldest children went to court to seek conservatorship over their ailing father amid a bitter rift with stepmom Jean, who has been married to Casey for 30 years.

That action happened after their request to see their father went unanswered.

“We’ve heard nothing, absolutely nothing from her, and we’re very worried,” Kerri, 41, told the New York Daily News.

“My worst fear is that there’s neglect and isolation going on.”

But a judge said Oct. 15 he saw no need for an emergency conservatorship after Kasem's court-appointed lawyer visited him and found his daily care “adequate,” the Daily News reported.

The judge ordered an independent doctor to investigate Casey's diagnosis, prognosis, and his ability to understand paperwork he signed in 2011 that gives Jean power of attorney. A follow-up hearing was scheduled for Nov. 19.

Kasem, 81, also voiced Shaggy in the popular “Scooby-Doo” cartoons.

Born in Detroit, he is the son of Lebanese immigrants.
