A cat walked 12 miles to return home, only to find that its owners wanted no part of him — they were the ones who abandoned the cat in the first place.
But everything ended well for feline Toby. The SPCA of Wake County, North Carolina, wrote on Facebook that when the cat’s original owners gave Toby to a new family, the cat made the 12-mile trek back to its original home.
That’s when the owners asked an area animal shelter to euthanize Toby.
The SPCA took over the case instead and it didn't take long for Toby to find a purrfect ending.
On Monday, the SPCA reported on its Facebook page that a loving home had been found.
“Toby has been adopted! He has three new siblings (one feline and two human) and a cat-savvy mom to show him what a loving family is really like.”
Facebook commenter Pamela Jewel wrote, “He is beautiful, and worth more than the people who tried to have him killed. I am so glad that humane people adopted him. His former owners should not be allowed to ever have another animal.”
