A celebrity telethon held for hurricane relief raised $14 million in an hour on Tuesday evening.

The star-studded "Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief" event, which was televised live, saw performances, tributes and heartfelt messages delivered from some of the biggest names in entertainment who came together to raise money for victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

According to NBC News, celebrities including Beyonce, Justin Bieber, George Clooney and Oprah Winfrey were among those participating in the hourlong telethon, ultimately raising over $14 million for those in need.

During the broadcast, Justin Bieber stood with religious leaders to pray for the victims affected by the destructive storms.

He also appealed to viewers to show their support, saying "we want you to be a part of this and donate whatever you can."

Beyonce, who appeared in a recorded message, spoke about the dire situation left behind by Harvey.

"Just when you think you couldn't possibly get worse, natural disasters take precious life, do massive damage and forever change lives, leaving behind contaminated water, flooded hospitals, schools and nursing homes," she said.

The chart-topping pop star stressed that countless families were now homeless, adding that "it doesn't matter if you're from Third Ward or River Oaks, we're all in this together."

The New York Daily News noted that Apple had donated $5 million to the cause while Albertsons Cos. and Merck each donated an additional $1 million.

ABC News reported that the event, which was initially meant to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas, was later extended to reach out to the victims of Irma as well.
