Chad L Coleman, 'Walking Dead' Actor, Regrets Shrill NYC Subway Rant

By    |   Monday, 04 May 2015 08:14 AM EDT

Chad L. Coleman, who plays Tyreese on "The Walking Dead" and Cutty on "The Wire," told TMZ he regrets disturbing passengers with a profanity laden rant on the NYC subway on Friday.

According to the actor, he had a lot of "built-up frustration" because of the situation surrounding Baltimore resident Freddie Gray, and lost it when someone on the train referred to him using the N-word.

He said that while riding the 4 train, a woman leaned over to her male companion and asked if they knew Coleman. According to Coleman, the man's response was, "No, we don't know that n*****."

This prompted Coleman to begin yelling. TMZ described it as "nonsensical and ear-shattering loud."

"I want to know where my humanitarians are! Yes! I’m Chad L. Coleman! I’m on 'The Wire,' I’m on 'The Walking Dead,' I’m not trying to play no f***ing games with you!" he said.

"Where is your humanity? Where is it brother? Don't tell me I'm making this up. A humanitarian. If you care, f***ing care! And that's the goddamn truth!"

The tirade went on for nearly five minutes, with Coleman walking up and down the train car yelling. Most of the passengers don't appear to understand what was going on, and many move away from him when they get the chance.

Coleman said he was not drunk during the incident, and wanted to apologize to fellow cast members of "The Walking Dead" as well as his family.

"Walking Dead" producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple came out in support of Coleman with a Twitter statement Saturday, apparently advocating for yelling in the faces of random bystanders.
