Charles Manson, reported too weak for needed stomach surgery, is back in a California state prison just days after being rushed to a hospital.

According to the New York Post, Manson was back in prison on Saturday morning after doctors determined he was too weak to undergo surgery for a stomach ailment.

Manson was supposed to receive emergency surgery Thursday night, sources said, but was taken back to Corcoran State Prison on Friday instead.

Manson, 82, was rushed from the prison to a Bakersfield hospital after he became ill from intestinal problems, TMZ reported. He was experiencing a bleeding lesion in his intestines.

Manson initially told doctors that he didn’t want to undergo emergency surgery, and then he changed his mind and agreed to the surgery shortly thereafter, but doctors canceled the procedure.

According to the Post, Manson had been taken to the hospital for treatment months ago, implying he has been ill for some time now.

Manson is serving a life sentence in prison after being convicted of orchestrating the 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and six others, CBS News reported.

Manson and three female devotees, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten, were convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
