One of the worst tattoos in ages surfaced on Reddit.com this week — a poorly inked Charmander from the Pokémon franchise — and now the image is being put on all sorts of merchandise as a joke.
According to the original post on the popular link-sharing site, a random 27-year-old who was drunk and high on prescription pills gave the tattoo to himself. The man's friend, who originally photographed the bad tat and posted it to Reddit, said he tried to stop his friend multiple times to no avail.

Several people across multiple social media sites soon explained to people not familiar with the adorable Pokémon character what Charmander really looks like.
In a matter of almost no time at all, fans began to put the preposterous tattoo Charmander into and onto everything — including T-shirts, water bottles, and even the original Pokémon videogame. The comedic effect could not be denied.
You can buy it here for $8.99<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://threadnerds.com/collections/mousepads/products/shitty-charmander-tattoo-mousepad">http://threadnerds.com/collections/mousepads/products/shitty-charmander-tattoo-mousepad</a>

Look I know we are "over it" but I had to work all day and left the studio at 5pm. I got home 30 minutes ago. I really wanted to submit an animated Shitty Charmander ALL DAY. I've been lurking for three years and even though I love you imgur. I'm afraid of you. Enjoy my animation.
Somewhere in all the mocking revelry, an astute Reddit user figured out that the tattoo wasn't supposed to look like Charmander from the cartoon or video game. Instead, it was supposed to look like Charmander from a fan-art series in which an artist re-imagined a number of Pokémon characters as they might look in a Tim Burton movie. Thus, the mystery of the bad tattoo was solved.
