Chelsea Clinton, who has maintained a relatively quiet life despite her political star parents, told CNN on Monday that she doesn’t rule out the idea of running for office someday.
Reiterating words that she’s said in the past, Clinton said the most important thing to her is that she makes a difference.
If someday, she told CNN reporter Nima Elbagir, she wasn’t happy with the way the world was going, she would work in the public sector if she was needed.

The Washington Post, reporting on the CNN interview, examined where Clinton would be most likely to run.
Clinton and her husband, Mark Mezvinsky, live on the East Side of Manhattan. The Post said the couple lives in the district represented by Carolyn Maloney, 67, but that it would be possible for Clinton to run for office in many of the districts around New York City.
The speculation seems a little early, given Clinton’s CNN interview. The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and retired Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made it clear that she’s happy working with the Clinton Foundation and making a difference in the world.
“Ultimately I hear my grandmother’s voice in my head, ‘It’s not about what happens to you, it’s about what you do with what happens to you,’” Clinton said. “I’m so grateful for the work I get to do through the Clinton Foundation.”
That could change, though.
“I'm grateful to live in a city and a state and a country where I really believe in my elected officials, and their ethos and their competencies,” Clinton told CNN. “Someday, if either of those weren't true, and I thought I could make more of a difference in the public sector, or if I didn't like how my city or state or country were being run, I'd have to ask and answer that question.”
