Chelsea Handler is recalling an "awkward and weird" dinner party she went to at Jeffrey Epstein's house.
Speaking in an interview with Rob Lowe Wednesday on his podcast, "Literally!" the comedian revealed that she and Katie Couric attended the event years ago. At the time she did not know who Epstein was but was familiar with some of the other guests, which included Prince Andrew, Charlie Rose, publicist Peggy Siegal, Woody Allen, and his wife, Soon Yi Previn, according to Yahoo! Entertainment.
"I was at that dinner party, but not for very long. When we got there I was like what is this gathering?" Handler said. "We had dinner and it was so awkward and so weird. I was like what are we doing here? And then I asked Woody Allen how he and Soon Yi met and that was when I left."
Previn is the estranged adopted daughter of Allen's former wife, Mia Farrow. Previn was a college student when she met the director who is 35-years her senior, according to Independent. They tied the knot in 1997.
Handler admitted she forgot about their controversial relationship and was genuinely curious about how they met.
"At that point of the night I was like this is such a ridiculous dinner party, who are these people?” Handler said. "I really was curious! I had forgotten for a moment … but as it came out of my mouth, I knew that it was too late."
Allen was amused by the question but Couric took it as a sign that they should leave.
"And he loved it, and Soon Yi, I don't think she heard it and Katie looked at me and was like, 'Let’s go,'" Handler continued, adding that she never saw Epstein again.
"I've never been onto the private island, and I've never been on his plane," she said. "I’ve met him one time and that was the time."
