Chelsea O'Donnell, who turned 18 on Monday, is leaving adopted mom Rosie O'Donnell's home to live with her birth mother in Wisconsin.

"Chelsea made a decision when she turned 18 that she wanted to go to her birth mother," Rosie’s spokesperson said in a statement to "Entertainment Tonight." "This was her choice."

Birth mother Deanna Micolay reportedly drove from Wisconsin to pick Chelsea O'Donnell up on Monday, sources told TMZ.

The teen made headlines earlier this month after Rosie O'Donnell reported her missing. "ET" said the girl was eventually found a few days later at the home of New Jersey resident Steven Sheerer, who has a past record for cocaine possession. Because Chelsea O'Donnell had not yet turned 18, Sheerer was charged with distribution of obscenity to a minor after police got a hold of text messages he allegedly sent the girl, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

A source told "ET" that Chelsea O'Donnell met Sheerer online, and family members also said they suspected the girl ran away from home to join the man.

TMZ reported that Rosie O'Donnell has apparently cut her adopted daughter off financially, and also said that the actress refused to give her legal documents, such as her birth certificate.

A couple of days after her daughter was found, Rosie O'Donnell tweeted:

Many offered support to the actress, referencing reports that Chelsea O'Donnell struggles with mental illness.
