Cheryl Burke suffered a head injury while rehearsing for "Dancing With The Stars." She was practicing a routine with her partner, AJ Mclean of The Backstreet Boys, when the professional dancer fell and hit her head, she revealed on Monday in an Instagram post.
"Yesterday, I took a hard fall while rehearsing for #VillainsNight," she wrote in a post that included various photos of the pair dancing. "Even though AJ kills me at the end of this Tango, this wasn’t part of the routine. It’s one of those things that can happen in a split second. Thankfully, I have the best partner I could ask for that was there to pick me up off the ground."
Video footage obtained by People shows the moment Burke takes a spill. During the routine, McLean runs towards Burke but before the two can make contact, she falls backward, hitting her head. McLean is seen on the floor, asking if she is okay.
"Cheryl and I were practicing during stage rehearsal and it did not go well," McLean, says in the clip. "It happened so fast, I just heard her head hit the floor."
According to People, a medic was called to the scene to examine Burke.
There have been other injuries sustained during season 29 of "DWTS." Peta Murgatroyd injured her neck while dancing with her partner Vernon Davis earlier this month. After taking time off, the professional dancer revealed the news to fans.
"Sorry everyone tonight on @DancingABC I was absent from our spots after our dance," she tweeted. "I pulled my neck and had to run to therapy. I’ll be ok but I needed to get it seen to ASAP. Thanks for the concern. Love you all and I’m looking forward to next week xxxx"
