China's central government is becoming concerned that the country's pollution is preventing its surveillance cameras from viewing vital areas and could endanger safety.
Government officials in China are worried that terrorists could pick a day where its smog is thick to launch an attack.

Kong Zilong, a video surveillance technology expert, said China's
pollution is having a negative impact on the country's closed circuit television cameras, The Daily Mail reported.
That fear was heightened recently when suicide bombers in a car set off a bomb among tourists in Beijing's Tiananmen Square. The area is symbolic because it was the site of the 1989 massacre of pro-democracy protesters by government's military.
"As the visibility drops below three meters, even the best camera cannot see beyond a dozen meters," Zilong said, per the Daily Mail.
Doctors are already
blaming the country's pollution for an 8-year-old girl being inflicted with lung cancer, reported Agence France-Presse on Tuesday. China's official news agency Xinhuanet wrote that the girl, whose name was not given, lives near a major road in the eastern province of Jiangsu.
Lung cancer has jumped dramatically in China with the rapid expansion of the country's industrial age. That has led to deteriorating air quality, especially in crowded urban areas.
Lung cancer deaths in China have increased four times over the past 30 years and cancer is now the leading cost of death in Beijing, the country's health ministry reported, according to AFP.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer recently confirmed that
outdoor air pollution and particulate matter both cause cancer in humans.
Pollution covers China most of the year, drawing increased concern from world health care experts.
