Chris Christie caught a foul ball at a Mets game and ended up being booed by the crowd and mocked by an announcer.
The NJ governor was attending a Mets-Cardinals game at Citi Field on Tuesday night when he caught the ball from his seat, noted Fox Sports.
"Christie was sitting in the third row, near the New York dugout. In the third inning, St. Louis rookie Paul DeJong lifted a high foul that bounced in the stands, and Christie reached out with his left hand and snagged it," reported Fox Sports, adding that the governor gave the ball to a kid.
The crowd erupted in cheers until they realized it was Christie and they proceeded to loudly boo him.
Adding to this, one of the commentators poked fun at the governor, stating:
"Nice to see him get from the beach here to the ballpark."
Christie has not caught a break since photos emerged of him lounging on Island Beach State Park with his family while members of the public were prohibited from accessing beaches during a government shutdown earlier this month.
When queried on this at a conference, Christie told media that the beach house was separate from the park, NJ.com noted.
"Run for governor, and you can have a residence there," he said.
A recent poll released by Quinnipiac University said Christie had an 81 percent disapproval rating.
"Christie makes history again as New Jersey voters disapprove 81 - 15 percent of the job he is doing, the worst approval rating for any governor in any state surveyed by Quinnipiac University in more than 20 years," noted the study.
"Even Republicans disapprove 58 - 31 percent."
