A Chris Cornell memorial statue has been commissioned by the family of the late Soundgarden frontman, to be erected at a time and place in Seattle still to come. The popular 52-year-old singer hung himself in May.

The Seattle Times interviewed the singer’s widow, Vicky Cornell, and the story was online Thursday. She said Chris Cornell was Seattle’s son.

“We will be bringing him home and honoring him, I hope, with all of you, your love and support.”

She said she has commissioned film industry great Wayne Toth to create the statue of her husband, which will be placed at a still-to-be-confirmed location in Seattle.

IMDB noted that Toth had worked on sets for “Drag Me to Hell,” ”Transformers” and “The Amazing Spiderman.”

He also created the statue of Johnny Ramone that was placed by his graveside at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Cornell confirmed, the Times said, that Toth had already given her the designs for the memorial statue, adding that “the children and I love it.”

The sculpture is expected to take seven months to create and, in the meantime, the family and its legal representatives reportedly are working with the city of Seattle to establish a location for the statue.
