Photos of Chris Cornell’s suicide scene have been released to the public, showing the Detroit hotel room where the Soundgarden frontman spent his last few hours alive before allegedly hanging himself.
The photos shows the exercise band that Cornell reportedly used to hang himself, blood smears on the bathroom floor, and Cornell’s prescription pill bottles, TMZ reported.
It is currently unknown why there was blood at the crime scene, noted the New York Daily News.
According to a police report released on Tuesday, the singer’s body had sustained "well defined ligature mark present on the neck/throat area."
Wayne County Medical Examiner ruled Cornell’s death as suicide after his body was discovered with a band around his neck on May 18.
A bodyguard, Martin Kirsten, told police he discovered Chris Cornell’s body upon checking to see if the musician was OK following frantic calls from the Soundgarden singer’s wife, Vicky Cornell, noted the Detroit Free Press.
"I went inside and the bathroom door was partially opened, and I could see his feet."
According to reports, Kirsten proceeded to loosen the band tied around Chris Cornell’s neck and administer CPR to the singer.
According to an autopsy report released on June 2, there were various prescription drugs found in Cornell’s system at the time of death. However, these were ruled out at as a cause of death.
Meanwhile, Vicky Cornell told People magazine that a relapse to his 13-year drug addiction had prompted the suicide.
"He didn’t want to die. If he was of sound mind, I know he wouldn’t have done this," she told the magazine.
