Chris Kattan, a former “Saturday Night Live” cast member, was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Encino, Calif., on Monday after he crashed his Mercedes into a Department of Transportation vehicle on the side of the highway.
The accident occurred about 2 a.m. at a site where Caltrans crews were working on a guardrail with lane closed signs and orange construction cones around the workers. Kattan’s Mercedes reportedly came close to the road crew and then
hit the back of a DOT vehicle, The Los Angeles Times reported.

California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada said someone had called authorities before the accident about the car.
“The 911 caller reported that the Mercedes was weaving all over the roadway at slow speeds," Posada told the Times.
CNN reported that Kattan did not pass sobriety tests done on-site and that police also suspect he was under the influence of an unknown drug. A chemical test was done.
Kattan, 43, had a bloody nose from the wreck but no one else was injured.
“It could have been a lot worse,” Officer Leland Tang told CNN.
Kattan, known for his Mango role on SNL, posted several tweets about the situation.
He followed this tweet with another, apparently after taking some flack over the arrest:
