High-school student Chris Plaskon will not attend his own arraignment Monday following his alleged stabbing of classmate Maren Sanchez, whom friends say turned down his invitation to the prom.
Plaskon's name has not been officially released by police, but multiple parties confirmed it was he who was taken into custody the same day of the stabbing that occurred Friday,
The Associated Press reports.

The attack happened just hours before Jonathan Law High School's prom in Milford, Ct.
Richard Meehan, Plaskon's attorney, said the suspect is being kept in the hospital under psychiatric evaluation. Plaskon is currently being charged as a juvenile, however Meehan expects he will eventually be charged as an adult.
Sanchez, 16, died due to knife wounds to her neck and torso, Connecticut's chief medical examiner ruled.
Friends mourned her passing over the weekend, and many spoke to reporters about what a positive influence Sanchez was on her classmates.
The New York Times reports that Sanchez "served as class president, joined the drama club and managed the swimming and softball teams" in addition to winning the school talent show with her cover of Phillip Phillips' "Home."
She and Plaskon had been friends since middle school. As an athlete, he was well liked, but troubled, the NYT reported. As an eighth-grader he once showed up to school with cuts on his arm, and told a friend he was going to kill himself.
"Maren was always one to uplift Chris — and everyone," Sanchez's friend Rachel Escobar told the Times. She wrote a song for her late friend and recently posted it to YouTube. "He liked her for a long time before that, and he just loved her so much he got jealous. Chris couldn’t be in the same room with her."
Escobar and others report that Chris had asked Sanchez to the prom months before, but that she turned him down. The morning she was killed, Sanchez was set to go to the dance with another boy.
