Chris Pratt's ex-wife, Anna Faris, is getting candid about their divorce.
The couple, who share 8-year-old son, Jack, tied the knot in 2009 but shocked fans several years later after announcing they were calling it quits. On Monday, Faris opened up about the split during an episode of her podcast, "Anna Faris Is Unqualified."
"For me, I think after every breakup, at some point I realize that there were a lot of things I ignored that I really shouldn't have," she said, according to E! News. "In hindsight, it felt like my hand was forced. I don't think it was ever an independent decision."
Faris admitted she never spoke to Pratt about any of the struggles she was facing, which "stunted me in a lot of ways."
"One of them being that I never talked about any issues, so to the people, even who I was closest to, I'm sure things were more transparent with my relationship with Ben [Indra], but with Chris, I think that we both protected that imagery even within our close circles," she added.
Faris was married to Indra from 2004 to 2008 and is now engaged to Michael Barrett. Pratt is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger. Although they have both moved on, Faris has been honest about her divorce from Pratt.
"My two other marriages were with actors, and I don't think we did a great job of eliminating competitiveness," she told Gwyneth Paltrow in a previous episode of her podcast, via Today. "Or at least I didn't, being a proud person and not wanting to reveal vulnerability. Any hint of competitiveness and comparison, I didn't handle that very well, I don't think."
Faris and Pratt decided to go their separate ways in 2017. They shared the news in a joint statement posted on Pratt's Facebook account.
"Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating," the post read. "We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another."
Shortly after the split, Faris was linked with Barrett, who she worked with on the movie "Overboard," and in 2019 it emerged that the two were engaged. Faris was initially silent on the engagement but later spoke about their relationship on her podcast.
"This is a tricky area for me because I've gone through two divorces now," Faris said. "I do want to talk to everybody about these things, that I don't really know much about. But I also feel that I want to protect things in a way that I hadn't considered before."
