Chrissy Teigen has deleted her Twitter account. The model announced her intentions to her 13.7 million followers Wednesday in a series of tweets an hour before she removed her account.
"This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that's the right time to call something," she wrote in one post, according to Newsweek.
"My life goal is to make people happy. The pain I feel when I don't is too much for me. I've always been portrayed as the strong clap back girl but I'm just not," she added. "My desire to be liked and fear of pissing people off has made me somebody you didn't sign up for, and a different human than I started out here as! Live well, tweeters. Please know all I ever cared about was you!!!"
The decision comes weeks after Teigen asked President Joe Biden to unfollow her on the platform. In January, she became the first celebrity to appear in the @POTUS Twitter feed after she reached out to Biden, asking that he follow her on the platform. Then she backtracked on her request and asked that he unfollow her, which he did.
"I have tweeted a handful of times since my treasured @POTUS following," she tweeted. "In order for me to flourish as me, I must ask you to please lord unfollow me. I love you!!! It’s not you, it’s me!!!!"
Teigen previously stepped away from Twitter after best-selling cookbook author Alison Roman said the model's brand horrified her. Roman made the comment in an interview with New Consumer in May.
"She [Teigen] had a successful cookbook. And then it was like: Boom, line at Target. Boom, now she has an Instagram page that has over a million followers where it’s just, like, people running a content farm for her," Roman said. "That horrifies me and it’s not something that I ever want to do. I don’t aspire to that. But like, who’s laughing now? Because she’s making a ton of f***ing money."
Shortly after, Teigen, who was trolled following the interview, announced that she would be taking a break from Twitter.
