"Flip or Flop" star Christina Anstead and estranged husband Ant were having marital issues long before they finally decided to call it quits. Christina announced on Friday that she and Ant were separating after two years of marriage and sources have now revealed why.
Their problems came shortly after the birth of their one-year-old son, Hudson, an insider told People in a report published Tuesday.
"After the baby, they started having conflicts," the source explained.
Christina also shares daughter Taylor, 10, and son Brayden, 5, with ex-husband and costar Tarek El Moussa. Ant shares daughter Amelie, 16, and son Archie, 14, with his ex-wife Louise Herbert. Juggling her busy family life with work and everything else inbetween became too much for Christina, who started feeling "lonely and unhappy" in her marriage.
"Christina found it difficult to balance everything" and she and Ant were "struggling" with their relationship, the source noted, adding that Christina "never expected to get a divorce" but is "doing okay and focusing on the kids."
Christina shocked fans when she said on Friday that she and Ant were separating. She announced the "difficult decision" on Instagram on Friday.
"Ant and I have made the difficult decision to separate," Christina captioned a photo of the couple walking into the sunset on the beach. "We are grateful for each other and as always, our children will remain our priority. We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future."
