A chupacabra was caught alive in Texas. At least that’s what residents are claiming in the rural town of Ratcliffe, located in DeWitt County in South Texas.
The hairless, black-skinned mythical creature is said to suck the blood out of farmer’s livestock and has long been at the center of many supernatural tales over the years, supported by random, unsubstantiated sightings throughout Latin America and the southern United States.
The creature, whatever it is, was caught late Sunday night by Jackie Stock who apparently snagged the animal in a raccoon trap outside their home, according to her husband Arlen Parma,

"He called me to come and look, and I said,
'Bubba, that looks like a baby chupacabra,'" Stock told ABC7.
"I hunted coons for 20 years with dogs and I ain't never seen nothing looks like that right there," Parma added.
According to the veteran hunter, one of the tell-tale signs that the creature is not a hairless raccoon is its growl.
"A coon don't make that noise, or a possum. What makes that noise? I guess a chupacabra does, I don't know," Parma concluded.
Wildlife experts, however, are not as convinced.
"The animal in the cage as best I can tell from the view was some sort of a small canine," Brent Ortego, a wildlife diversity biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife, told ABC News after watching a video of the caged animal.
Aside from a dog and wolf, the Canidae family also includes foxes, jackals, and coyotes, as well as a series of less well-known dog-like mammals.
As for the likelihood that the captured animal is in fact a chupacabra, Ortego added, "It's never been proven to be a unique species. It was always something out there that allegedly either caused harm or threatened to cause harm to people or their livestock."
Very often, a suspected chupacabra, usually found dead, winds up being a coyote or small stray dog that lost its hair due to a severe case of mange.
According to ABC7, the Stock family hasn’t yet decided what they’ll do with their hairless, and likely very nervous, new friend. Currently the animal remains in the cage where the couple is reportedly providing it with water and cat food mixed with corn.
