Clark Middleton, known for his roles in "Twin Peaks" and "The Blacklist," has died at 63.
The actor passed away on Sunday as a result of the West Nile Virus, a mosquito-borne disease that has no known cure, his wife Elissa confirmed to Variety. She also announced the news on Tuesday to Clark's official Twitter page.
"Hi. Elissa here, Clark's wife. Thank you for your love and support for My Mister," she tweeted. "I cannot count the number of times he said "Give the world your best and the best will come back to you," quoting his father Mel. And he meant it! He is in the light, happy and free, and sends love."
Clark established himself as an actor in television after appearing in recurring roles on "Law & Order," "Twin Peaks" and the more recent thriller "The Blacklist." His acting career was not limited to the small screen though. Clark worked alongside top producers and starred in several major motion pictures including "Kill Bill," "Sin City," "Snow Piercer," and the Academy Award-winning film "Birdman."
Clark also carved a successful career for himself in theater. He started out as a writer and director of plays in 1983 and later made his Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated revival of "The Iceman Cometh." From there, Clark went on to appear in dozens of other theatrical productions staged in major theatres in New York and Los Angeles.
In addition to his acting career, Clark was a spokesperson for the Arthritis Foundation. He was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at age four and underwent 14 surgeries over the years, which included 10 joint replacements. In a statement, the foundation noted that the actor "never let his disability stop him from living a full and accomplished life."
"Though we mourn his passing, we are also grateful that Clark’s legacy will carry on to provide life-changing research, resources and support for the 54 million Americans living with arthritis," the statement added.
