Clif Bar Recall? Oh, Nuts!

Clif Bar has issued a recall for some of its products after reports surfaced about the protein bars containing nuts not listed on the label, a concern for nut allergy sufferers.

The popular snack bar company has “received a small number of consumer complaints alleging peanut or tree nut allergic reactions,” the FDA said.

The bars on the recalled list include Clif Builder’s Chocolate Mint bar, Clif Kid Zbar Protein Chocolate Mint, and Clif Kid Zbar Protein Chocolate Chip. These bars may contain peanuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts, or coconut.

Clif Bar recalled the snack bars as a precaution, despite there being no reported illnesses thus far.

“People with an allergy to peanuts and these specific tree nuts run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction. The company is strongly advising consumers who have peanut and these specific tree nut allergies not to consume these bars,” the FDA said.

The recalled bars have been sold in stores across the U.S. and online. Customers who have purchased the recalled Clif bars are being urged to either throw them out or return them for a full refund to the stores where they were bought.

The recalled bars have the following codes: 72225260044, 72225260144, 72225219110, and 72225221911.
